Repurposed
New Zealand timbers such as rimu, matai and southland beech make great looking and sonic guitars. Due to the forestry aact of 1949, milling of NZ Natives is rare, but the timber is there if you know where to look. Many Solace guitars and basses are crafted from repurposed timber both saving our native forests and enabling them to 'live' again.

Timbers
Traditional tone woods are rare in New Zealand due to our remote location. But thankfully our natives and locally grown exotic timbers provide us with plenty of options for resonant tone, stability and beautiful grain patterns.

Dave Pauling
Luthier
I have been building instruments on and off since I was young but consistently from 2009. The craft of working with wood combined with the art of music is a joy. Perhaps it is in the blood, coming down from Vincenzo and his son Louis Panormo through my father's lineage.
Every instrument is unique and crafted, one at a time with great care.
I am located in the beautiful region of Marlborough, New Zealand.
